Tough Love Companies

Brochure:

Business Card:

Letterhead:

I have always wanted to do these kinds of things for my companies. Tough Love Photo, Customs, & Graphics. I decided that this was a good occasion to do it. I chose these colors because they are classy, sophisticated, and edgy all at once. This font was readable while still looking professional and classy. I chose the girl on the first page of my brochure because she looks all unique, sophisticated, but edgy as well. The customs are all my original sketches. The graphics are all my own designs that I photographed from my computer's database. The photography is all my own (hence the TL Photography watermark). I wanted my letterhead simple to kind of balance out all of the awesome information that would be written on the page if it were a real letter to my customers. Also, all of the prices are my real rates that I charge for my businesses.

Questions, Questions, Questions!

Corporate Identity Questionnaire:

1)   What is your business?
We make custom and client-designed clothing of any kind desired.

2)   Describe your business in one sentence
We are a company that makes unique, edgy, and sophisticated clothing not seen anywhere else, except in imagination.

3)   Who is your target audience?

  • Wealthy
  • Adults/Teens
  • Creative
  • One-of-a-Kind
  • Unique
  • Quirky
  • Edgy
  • Sophisticated
  • Want nothing but the best
4)   Who are your competitors?

  • Magalis Garcia
  • Shotwell Boutique
  • 5 and Diamond
  • Nasty Gal
5)   What makes them better/worse than your product/service?

  • Magalis Garcia's website information is outdated, the latest being fall of 2010.
  • Shotwell Boutique is under construction.
  • 5 and Diamond has an under-developed website, although good products.
  • Nasty Gal is becoming more girly and less edgy, and more slutty than sophisticated.

Skip these 2:

   6)   Do you currently have an identity?  (This is more for companies that are already established and you’re just revamping the logo/corporate identity.  If you have a new company or product, skip this question.)
Why is this important:  If you’re an established company with a well-known logo, you may not want to deviate too extremely from it.

AND

   7)   (If your answer to #6 is no, skip this question)  What do you like about it and what don’t you like about it?
Why is this important?  Even if you plan to change the logo entirely, it’s good to keep an inventory about what specifically worked and didn’t work about your previous design in order to inform the new one.

8)   How do you want your image to be seen in two years?
We want to be seen as a company that fulfills the wearing desires of the clients, whatever it may be.

9)   If your company was an animal, what animal would it be and why?
A snow leopard. This is because we are unique, sophisticated, and dangerously edgy.

10)   If your company/brand was a person, who would it be and why?
P!nk. This is because she is a sophisticatedly edgy woman who is constantly evolving. She is just phenomenal in her attitude in life.

11)   If your company/brand was an object, what would it be?
It would be a sparkly, black party gown with silver studs and strategically placed rips up and down the body.

12)   If your customer was a cartoon character, who would it be?
Moka, from Rosario + Vampire. She's such a B.A. with her every move, and edgily sophisticated in her demeanor in the meantime.

All I'm Living For...

Lyrical Collage

Original Images:

Lyric:

"Lock the last open door, my ghosts are gaining on me."
              - ALL THAT I'M LIVING FOR by Evanescence -

Artistic Statement:

I used blur, smudge, screen, sharpen, and eraser for the majority of the graphic. The other slight adjustments were the color dodge and color burn for color issues.

I chose to do this lyric because it shows my creepier side. But it really isn't all that creepy, just more realistic. I mean who doesn't have ghosts of themselves that try to haunt them or try to invade their new selves?

The Love Vortex

Custom Graphic

Artistic Statement:

My graphic is the literal version of "falling in love." I created the shadowed strokes that are on her hands, her shirt, skirt, chest, and leg. I wanted to make a graphic that was a little more insight into my own style and design. So I chose something that is masked morbidity. Read this little blurb to find out her story:

Her name is Mikoa. Her story is one of fear and love all put together. She fears love, always hated it. Until Shizuko came along. Shizuko is a nice guy, but dangerous because of the powers he has. But she falls anyway, she just can't help it. She fears it, but in a way that not only terrifies her, but ensues her eventual (sooner than expected) death and haunting of Shizuko. She haunts him in a way that keeps everyone away from him, thus making him even more feared which she finds out is his misery. She enjoys haunting him, but hates that it makes his life more and more miserable. But she just can't leave him, reasoning unbeknownst to her.

This little story is just something fun I decided to add to make this blog a little more entertaining. Who wants to read boring stuff, right?

Tattoo Crazy Vectoring!!

Vectored Graphic:

Original Image:

Photo Credit Given To: Lauren Mistretta

Artistic Statement:

I decided to make my photo more cartoony. I did this by not blending colors as much. It made it seem more drawn than real. I used opacities, shapes, and lines to create the entire vector graphic. I came across a discovery with this project. I discovered that I want to do graphics in some sort of way. I am so excited for my future in design now!

Final Logo

I decided on this design for a few reasons. One, I chose it because it looks edgier while still sophisticated, like the mission of the label. The color choices aid in the classically edgy style of the brand. The idea behind this was that I wanted a torn, but fixed up heart with interesting font mixtures and a showing that it will measure all sizes of people who want edgy, sophisticated clothes.
